Beautiful people, ocean, theme parks, wine tours, mountains, Hollywood... California is just a hop away on a plane, you could go there ona day trip from Vegas, or a few hours drive. Why not take a break from the bright lights and the insanity that is Vegas and journey toward the Ocean.
Los Angeles
Drive South to Los Angeles. Hollywood is 3 hours drive going the quickest route. Disneyland California is the Original Disneyland (created by Walt himself) and a perfect day trip with the kids. Beverly Hills, Hollywood studios, Long Beach, Malibu... All of these are nearby. Our advice is that LA is a place best enjoyed with a guide who knows it well, the theme parks are great, but often in Summertime LA is smoggy and difficult. So head towards the coast, or maybe...
San Diego
Further by a couple of hours is San Diego, a beautiful city. San Diego Zoo is one of the best in the world, The Coronado is a peninsula to spend a day or three on the beach, and the Gaslamp Quarter is a great fun part of town. San Diego airport is also a huge hub to other cities in the South, and a good place to consider flying via.
San Francisco
Vegas is a hot, competitive, desert. San Francisco is breezey, pacific, and liberal. They are the exact oposite of each other and equally awesome. The Golden Gate bridge, Alkatraz... And it is only an hour away by air, or a beautiful day's drive across the California mountains.
Trusted Top Tip
Instead of flying to san fransisco, fly to neighbouring Oakland. Oakland airport is smaller, and is the same distance from San Fransisco's city centre as sf's own airport. the difference is you will get budget flights to oakland, and get out of the airport quicker.
