From any of the central hotels in Vegas you are only a maximum of about 30 minutes drive to the edge of the city and open desert. This means that to get between main attractions, such as between The Strip and Downtown, you're only 20 minutes away, and that's roughly 20 dollars traffic depending.
Taxi
If there are a small number in your party, or your'e flying solo, taxi is the best choice. Tip 20%, and if you're in a rush be sure to ask to divert via the highway if travelling down the strip.
Also, the best advice in Vegas and the best stories of Vegas, can be found by asking the Taxi driver when they came to Vegas. It's rare you won't find a great story, even if you regret you asked...
Limo
However, if there are a few more of you do the sums. A taxi will be about ten dollars each, a limo might be 70 dollars between 7 of you, for the same journey. Luxury doesn't necessarily mean expense, and if boarding after a night out or at a busy hotel like the bellagio, you can jump the taxi queue by going straight to a limo guy and asking for a deal. Don't be shy. This is vegas.
How
