Just some simple basics

Check Trusted!

People are creatures of habbit.  We know that. IF you're used to booking via a certain travel agent, and feel safety in that, then its unlikely you'll trust us just becuase we're called Trusted!  However, if there ever was a place to buy the component parts of your holiday, Vegas is it.  You may be paying more purely for the sake of someone arranging a coach from the airport to your hotel. Even if you got a taxi, it will be around 20 dollars.  People have taken our advice before and have thanked us profusely.  People have also ignored our advice and stuck with a hotel picked for them and have come back to us and said 'I should've listened to you, we ended up miles from anywhere'.

Our Top Hotels are certainly not a comprehensive list of hotels in Vegas, but if you are there for the first time we are certain that you will find a hotel in the best location for you.  If you want to splash out the cash, you'll find The Wynn and The Cosmopolitan in our picks.  If you want budget you'll find Hooters and The Stratosphere.  And if you want somewhere luxurious but at a good price you'll find Paris and The Golden Nugget.  And many more. All of these are examples, and there are more to chose from. Click on our site and make sure you follow the advice on free cancellation below.

Getting to and from Vegas from anywhere in the world couldn't be easier.  But perhaps it could be cheaper!  Before you book with the travel agenet, check your own flight search and see if you can save some money.  If you want ease, click 'prefer direct' but if you're happy enjoying the journey for a while, often an indirect flight will save you lots of money, and US airports are small towns with plenty to do!

Booking.com and Free Cancellation

We link to booking.com for our hotels.  Why? There are other hotels websites which are also great, but we prefer Booking because

a) Their customer service is superb.  If you have a problem, contact the customer service, they have never let us down.

b) You see the full price of your stay rather than the cost per night (note, not including tax-more below on that)

c) You can reserve free cancellation rooms. (not unique to booking.com but still a great selling point).

Why book Free Cancellation?  It's simple.  Room rates change all the time, keep an eye on your booking and if the price goes down, cancel and book again!  Make sure you don't cancel outside the free cancellation period - just check the details. And if you'd do us the favour, click to the hotel through Trusted, as its the only way we can generate some revenue - it doesn't cost you any more at all, just lets us keep the website going.

Free cancellationisn't always available, but if your room has 'free cancellation' written in green, then... its free cancellation.  Two things to note.

Many hotels take a deposit whether booking through free cnacellation or not.  In the small print when you book if it doesn't say 'Pay Later' then it may charge your card for the first night of your stay. If you then cancel the room your credit card will have the money put back on it automatically. (Check though, there's always chance of a bug in the system - if so, email booking.com they'll sort it out).

Cancellation is free until the day before NORMALLY.  Each hotel can pick their own free-cancellation period.  It has been known for hotels to have free cancellation until a few weeks before, and then you are liable for a charge.  But that's very rare.  Its very simple, read what you book.

Get Cashback!

its simple.  Book through Quidco, and you could get a chunk of money back.  If you've never used a cashback website its very very simple. Simply go to Quidco, then click to a website from there - provided you don't click away or turn your computer off.  You can save a great deal of money this way.

Tax and Resort Fees

Tax. Like all US states Nevada has their own tax added onto hotel costs, and it is perhaps the number one negative comment on all hotels across the country.  Under your booking price it will say 'not including X % Tax'.  If you want to know what it is, simple maths - divide your room cost by 100 and multiply by the tax %. That's how much extra you'll pay.

Resort Fee. On top of your tax many hotels now include a 'resort fee' which may include things like Free Wi Fi.  It's commonly accepted to be nonsense, but hey, most charge it so factor that in. Its normally only a couple of dollars a day per person, and you can try and ask for them to remove it if you like!  (Good luck).

Use it!  Take a look, or ask at reception, what your resort fee includes, and make sure you use the perks!  If they don't work - such as wi fi - then be sure to point it out, as you may get your money back (if they don't fix it).

Booking Shows

Vegas.com is a great website to use because you can search your dates, for all kinds of entertainment. With big shows before you book in advance.  The more planning around shows, the less stress you'll have there.

Click below, put in your dates, and there you go.

Hiring a Car

Use this search for cars on your dates. Different car hire companies will come up.  Be aware one or two of them can have notoriously long queues and you want to avoid those.  We are not going to list them here, we're just going to tell you that our favourites are Alamo, Avis, and Hertz.
