Water

When travelling take water. Don't question this one. If you hire a car, if you're getting on a coach, if you're flying, just take water. When driving out to death valley, or pretty much driving everywhere, the air conditioning in your car will keep you cool, but you need to keep drinking.

Stand in the pool in the heat, it is wonderful. Sounds simple, but when your feet are tired from the walking or dancing, and the sun is hot, get the suncream on and stand in the pool a while.  You'll wish you could stay forever.

Even better, get on a boat, swim, Jetski in the wonderful Lake Mead. Check out more here.

Eat Wisely

Make it last. You can have the finest food in the world in Las Vegas.  The portions are huge, you will only need two meals a day!  And don't forget to ask for a Doggy Bag.  If your room has a fridge, you can eat well again later.

Trusted Restaurants

Breakfaast

Mon Ami Gabi: Right under the Eifel Tower, get a seat outside and you're overlooking the fountains with a beuatiful simple European Breakfast.

Dupar's Right at the top of Freemont Street, at The Golden Gate, the oldest hotel in Vegas, a true American Diner with phenominal pancakes and other breakfast. Features in our Downtown Itinerary.

All You Can Eat.

Every hotel has one or certainly seems to. And its hard to go wrong, but some are much better than others. Downtown, The Golden Nugget - up the escalators from the casino - is very good.  But Trusted's Top Tip for buffet food however, and we wouldn't say this unless it was food far above the competition, is the BAYSIDE BUFFET at the Mandalay Bay.

Out of Town - Sensation away from The Strip

Seek out The Black Bear Diner for homecooked meals that fill you up and make you feel at home, The Peppermill Fireside Lounge for an taste and experience you'll reccomend to everyone, and the Man V Food reccomended Hash House A Go Go for a twited farm-food treat (sounds bad, is phenomenal).

Steak.

Vic and Anthony's Steakhouse is inside the Golden Nugget Downtown. It is regularly voted as one of the best restaurants in the USA.  Your knife will slide through the steak like butter.  It is phenominal. Features in our Downtown Itinerary.

Bonnie Springs Ranch is outside Vegas.  If you have a car, its a drive into the Wild West, where you can see stunt snows and visit a petting zoo.  The real treat though is the homemade food.  It doesn't open late, but a Trusted Top Tip is try and get there just after the crowds leave.  Sunset with the best steak on the planet is beuatiful.

Celebrity Restaurants

There are LOADS of celebrity places popping up in Vegas.  Gordon Ramsy's places are all great, Burgr at Planet Hollywood is particularly good if you want simple - burger and fries done well. One not to miss, with beautiful Truffle Fries, is Guy Fieri's Vegas Kitchen and Bar at The Linq. Both feature in our Itineraries.

Hire A Car

The Cheapest (often) car hire in the USA major cities and one of the easiest to access. Check out our travel page for more.

You're in Vegas.  It's tempting to upgrade the car and get a mustang or a convertible.  Be aware that, if visiting in June-August, that roof is going to stay as firmly 'on' as the air conditioning. And whilst a mustang feels great to pull up at the hotel in, if driving out to Death Valley or The Grand Canyon be aware that a long journey can be less safe in older cars.

Use The Safe

Decide how much you want to spend and leave the rest in the safe!  Its a great way to make sure you don't over-spend, which is very VERY easy in Las Vegas.  Make a plan and stick to it.  Whether thats a million dollars or ten dollars is up to you, but you WILL be tempted.  That's the point...

Might be an idea to leave the credit card in the safe too for obvious reasons, plus the cash points in Vegas have high fees involved. You even lose on THAT machine!  (But the other machines are much more fun).

See more on gambling tips on our gambling page.

or DOWNTOWN.  Do you want to live in the old school 70's Neon world of Vegas, with smaller distances, cheaper nights, and an entire areas the size of one hotel on The Strip? Check out our guide to the Downtown best.

Or OUT OF TOWN.  Not interested in that side of Vegas at all, just here to pass through, or here for a huge bargain? Check out our guide to the best places inbetween.

Ideally, split your time. If we had to pick one great place for all reasons... The Golden Nugget.

Shopping

Get designer bargains. There are great shops in every hotel.  You'll find us mentioning lots of them in our itinerarys.  But also bare in mind if you want designer at bargain prices, check out theNORTH and SOUTH Premium Outlet Malls.

Visit San Francisco

If you are visiting from far away it is a shame to come this close to such an amazing city and not see it.  Take a look at the places near Vegas you can visit here but also remember our top tip of using Oakland airport when you look for flights too.  It's just as close to San Fransisco's city centre, and cheaper (if you take hand luggage only).

Go and see O

IT IS BRILLIANT.  There are so many great shows in Vegas, particularly by Cirque Du Soleil.  See more here. If you can afford it, book in advance and watch O.

Another top tip is Penn and Teller.  Residents of Vegas for many years, a taxi ride away and because they are always performing there are often tickets available at a great price.  They will meet you in the bar afterwards too!  Magic.

Gambling

People will say you’ll win more downtown.  There is no such thing as cheaper gambling.  You decide what you bet, downtown or strip. but the experience is bigger on the strip for those making it part of a bigger day of adventures, but perhaps a little more fun downtown, if you need a day of getting lost in the world of Vegas and not walking as much.

Ask for help.  Sit down, tell the dealer you've never played before, and (certainly downtown where things are a little more relaxed) the dealer should talk you through how to play, maybe even help out a little on your first few hands!

Free Drinks

In any casino, sit and bet your one cent bet and wait for the cocktail waitress to come round.  After a few cents, order a free drink, you can drink all week 'for free' (tip the waitress a dollar, and bet low, and you're basically spending less than 2 dollars a drink.

When clubbing, be aware ‘free bar’ may be a promotional tool which means you have to use a specific bar, with very few people serving on it, leaving you thirsty and bored. Remember, in Vegas, you get what you pay for!

Use your room safe

So that you don't rob from YOURSELF.  You have a safe in the room. Trust us. Leave your money and credit cards in there. Take out only exactly the amount you want to spend!  It's the best way of making sure you have a Vegas on-budget!  Hey, you might even be adding to the safe at the end of the night... It has been known...

Flights

Getting to and from Vegas from anywhere in the world couldn't be easier.  But perhaps it could be cheaper!  Before you book with the travel agenet, check your own flight search and see if you can save some money.  If you want ease, click 'prefer direct' but if you're happy enjoying the journey for a while, often an indirect flight will save you lots of money, and US airports are small towns with plenty to do!

visit skyscanner to find your flights

Get a massage

There are some great massages In Vegas. Specifically, get one inside hte Miracle Mile Shops on the walkway.  They're called Massage For Health and you bump into them in the middle of the pathway that is the circle of the MIracle Mile. The hands down most miracle-like of things is as massage from these people while the public walks past you!  Don't let shyness get in the way.  This is a must.

No Smoke No Casino

The casinos are all very well air conditioned, and as such you can ALMOST not notice people smoking around you.  But if you hate smoke, and hate casinos, The Vdara is the hotel for you.  It completely lacks both of those things!

Bus

You can ride the full length all day for just a few dollars (one tickets) and its super easy. Check out our page here.

Taxi/Limo

If you want to get past a taxi queue, by paying more, jump straight to the front and ask the guy for a limo!  See more here.

Watch 'O'

O is the best show in Vegas. See more here.

Clubbing

Nightcap

Search twitter to find guest list promoters in Vegas, and get into clubs for free. Be aware – there might be hundreds of people on the guest list and you may end up with certain restrictions on where you can go.  But if you want to get in free…

Trusted’s favourite indoor evening drink, and also a great club - but one perfect for those who want to stay up late but not go to a superclub – The Hyde in the Bellagio. Close as you can get to the fountains without getting wet.  See more here.

Freedom V Planning

Particularly if with Family, wedding party, or group of friends.

One of the best things about Vegas is that it is entirely possible to lose a day just wandering and enjoying whatever you come across.  This is a city of a million distractions and those distractions are often the best in the world.  If you're travelling as a group it can become a little cumbersome if you're deciding 'by committee' what to do next.  The best idea, if people have different tastes, is to agree a meeting point and then meet later. Walking the strip is great, and excursion are great, but it's important everyone goes their own way.  One person's shopping is another's Grand Canyon.  Sitting with free drinks gambling is one persons idea of boring, and another's equivalent to lying by the pool.

Plan specific things to do in advance for the group, and then enjoy going your own way inbetween. Have look through our itineraries and you'll see plenty to keep you occupied with plans. See them here.
